Everlywell review

3.6/5 · 3.2/5 on Trustpilot (510 reviews)

Everlywell is the at-home test brand you've probably seen on a pharmacy shelf — it sells 30+ kits across STIs, hormones and wellness, online and in Target, CVS and Walgreens. For STDs you self-collect at home, mail the sample to a CLIA-certified lab, and a physician reviews results before releasing them, with a free consult if anything is positive. It's convenient and the kits are well made, but it's slower than rivals and its reviews are mixed. Here's our full review.

Our verdict

Is Everlywell worth it?

Everlywell is the easiest at-home brand to actually get hold of — you can order online or grab a kit in a major pharmacy, and single tests start cheap ($69, or $49 for the OraQuick HIV kit). Samples run through CLIA-certified labs, a physician reviews every result before release, and positives come with a free consult. The trade-offs are real: results take about 5–7 days (slower than LetsGetChecked), it only screens HSV-2 (not HSV-1), and its customer reputation is the weakest of the major brands — a ~3.2 Trustpilot, no phone support, and recurring complaints about delays and refunds. Good for cheap single tests and pharmacy convenience; look elsewhere if you want speed or hand-holding.

The full review

Everlywell in depth

Our hands-on take on what Everlywell gets right, where it falls short, and how it stacks up.

Shelf availability and cheap singles are the hook

Everlywell's edge is convenience: it's the one at-home brand you can grab off a shelf at Target, CVS or Walgreens the same day, no shipping wait, alongside ordering online. Single tests are genuinely cheap — most are $69, and the OraQuick HIV kit is just $49 — which undercuts most rivals. Samples run through CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited labs, an independent physician reviews every result before release, and a positive comes with a free consult. The well-made kits also draw praise from testers.

Slow results and a thin support reputation

The compromises are real. Results take about 5–7 days after the lab receives your sample — the slowest of the big at-home brands — and the panels only screen HSV-2, not HSV-1, with no Mycoplasma or Ureaplasma. Customer reputation is the weakest of the majors: a ~3.2 Trustpilot, email-only support with no phone line, and recurring delay and refund complaints. Full-panel kits ($169–$199) also cost more than ordering the same tests at a lab, and it's not available in New York.

Who should pick it (and who shouldn't)

Everlywell suits you if you want a kit today from a pharmacy, only need a cheap single test, or also want hormone and wellness testing from one brand. If you want faster results and a nurse to call you, LetsGetChecked is the upgrade — see our LetsGetChecked vs Everlywell comparison. If you want both herpes strains or the widest panel, myLAB Box goes broader.

Good to Know

Everlywell review FAQs

Common questions about Everlywell — cost, accuracy, results and how it works.

Is Everlywell legit and accurate?

Yes. Everlywell is an established brand whose samples are processed by CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited labs, and every result is reviewed by an independent physician before release. Accuracy is high when you test within the right window. Its Trustpilot rating is around 3.2 — more mixed than LetsGetChecked, mainly over turnaround and support.

How much does Everlywell cost?

Most single tests are $69 (the OraQuick HIV kit is $49), the 5-panel is $169, and the male/female 7-panel is $199. It's self-pay, but HSA/FSA cards are accepted and subscriptions or the $39/month Everlywell+ membership lower the cost.

How long do Everlywell results take?

Plan on about 5–7 business days after the lab receives your sample — the slowest of the major at-home brands. A 30-minute at-home Visby PCR option is available for chlamydia, gonorrhea and trichomoniasis (female).

Can I buy Everlywell in a store?

Yes — that's a key advantage. Everlywell kits are sold at Target, CVS and Walgreens as well as online, so you can pick one up the same day without waiting for shipping.

Does Everlywell test for herpes?

Its male/female panels include herpes, but only HSV-2 — not HSV-1. If you specifically want both strains tested, LetsGetChecked is the better fit.

Does Everlywell take insurance?

Not for the test kits — those are self-pay (HSA/FSA accepted). Telehealth consultations through Everlywell can sometimes be billed to insurance.
